This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of billing and accounts receivable for a K-12 substitute teacher marketplace.

• Issue invoices to district and charter customers on a weekly basis.

• Process daily payment applications, including checks for multiple invoices that lack remittance advice.

• Ensure precise maintenance of open-invoice records.

• Collect overdue balances and address purchase-order and board-approval concerns with school districts.

• Investigate billing discrepancies with Support, determine appropriate credits, and issue them accordingly.

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

• Record accruals for substitute days worked but not yet invoiced.

• Document district deposits and prepayments as deferred revenue, recognizing revenue as substitute days are fulfilled.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Enhance and document processes for remittance, purchase-order tracking, billing, and closing.

• Collaborate closely with finance leadership and work alongside Support, Sales, and Operations teams.

• Provide assistance during annual audits and lender reporting.

• Offer support with accounts payable tasks as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in full-cycle billing and accounts receivable.

• Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets.

• Skilled in applying payments, managing open invoices, and executing collections.

• Familiarity with journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for cash, revenue, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue.

• Capability to book accruals and document deferred revenue.

• Competence in managing weekly billing cycles, month-end closings, and audit requests.

• Experience in differentiating between genuine billing disputes and stalling tactics.

• Knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Ordway, or Ramp is advantageous.

• Previous experience in a startup environment, particularly within a tech-enabled marketplace or service business, is preferred.

• Progress towards obtaining a CPA license is a plus.

• Willingness to assist with accounts payable when required.

• Educational qualifications are optional.
