Senior Accountant – Tax Sales & Use Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Execute multi-state audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business Licenses, and Fuel Taxes

• Address tax issues with external clients promptly

• Respond to inquiries from internal customers and vendors regarding state and local tax matters

• Prepare reconciliations for associated Sales and Use tax accounts

• Conduct research projects on multi-state Sales & Use taxes

• Assist in due diligence analysis for multi-state and local taxes during mergers and acquisitions

• Offer research support for SAP and Vertex tax software to ensure accurate taxation

• Draft technical correspondence to state officials to clarify interpretations of tax regulations

• Apply for, secure, and implement special exemptions as necessary

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency in tax processes

• Develop, author, plan, and deliver training for internal stakeholders

• Perform tasks that support compliance objectives related to Sales & Use Tax Laws

• Take on additional responsibilities as required to maintain compliance with S&U Tax Laws

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams

• Analyze and enhance processes to achieve efficiencies and ensure quality, accurate outcomes

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in multi-state sales & use tax audit defense

• Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting

• A Master's Degree and/or CPA is advantageous

• Proficiency in computer literacy

• Competence in a Windows environment

• Skilled in word processing

• Proficient with Excel spreadsheets

• Familiarity with Vertex Software is a plus

• Experience with SAP is a plus

• Strong oral and written communication abilities

• Positive attitude towards collaboration and teamwork

• Project management skills

• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail

• Capacity to develop and manage efficient work processes

• Analytical mindset for problem-solving

• Knowledge of process control, including measuring, tracking, analyzing, and promoting improvement

• Willingness to work extended hours as needed

• Ability to operate standard office/computer equipment

• Willingness to participate in required overnight travel as necessary

• Physical capability to walk, sit, lift, push, and climb to a significant extent

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly
