Staff Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead follow-ups on collections across various business lines and revenue streams; ensure AR aging notes are up-to-date and escalate overdue accounts in accordance with policy.

• Accurately and promptly apply incoming payments, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers to customer accounts.

• Address issues related to short payments, discrepancies, and unapplied cash.

• Generate and distribute prebills, renewals, and invoices for affiliate content via Bill.com.

• Coordinate the timing of invoices with revenue schedules.

• Conduct revenue reconciliation against invoices for both prepaid and installment customers.

• Update schedules and suggest modifications to avoid overbilling or underbilling.

• Prepare proposed month-end entries for revenue recognition, accruals, deferrals, intercompany transactions, and expense reimbursements for review and posting.

• Assist in the periodic evaluation of transaction and account classifications.

• Synchronize and categorize corporate card transactions.

• Ensure that expense submissions adhere to company policy and escalate any missing receipts.

• Maintain precise transaction records for review and reconciliation.

• Keep updated close checklists, reconciliation reports, standard operating procedures, and maintain audit-ready documentation.

• Collaborate with internal teams to address billing and collections challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, specifically in AR, GL, and revenue support.

• Strong understanding of debits and credits, accruals, and the fundamentals of revenue recognition.

• Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including filters, lookups, and pivot tables.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Experience in professional collections communication within a B2B context (beneficial but not mandatory).

• Experience in media, advertising, events, subscription services, or SaaS (beneficial but not mandatory).

• Adhere to internal controls and US GAAP standards.
