Sr Director – Head of Strategic Execution & Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Lead the formulation and execution of corporate strategy and mid-term management plans.

• Analyze business strategies and portfolios from a corporate perspective, identifying key challenges.

• Structure management issues and oversee the entire process from solution development to implementation and result creation.

• Analyze quantitative and qualitative information regarding the market, competition, regulations, and macro environments to organize key management topics.

• Provide insights for management decisions and resource allocation.

• Collaborate with the finance and management headquarters to establish financial targets related to revenue, profit, and capital efficiency.

• Break down corporate goals into department-specific KPIs and lead KPI management.

• Plan and introduce advanced management control methods and governance.

• Transform the prioritization and decision-making processes regarding management resources such as growth investments, costs, and personnel.

• Lead consensus building and stakeholder alignment across departments and regions.

• Drive the execution of strategies on the ground until they are reflected in P/L and KPIs.

• Build and develop a professional team responsible for strategy formulation, KPI management, and communication with management.

• Extend the knowledge and working methods of the Corporate Strategy function across the Santen Group.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in corporate-level strategy formulation and execution, having been involved for approximately 5 years in strategic planning or related departments in a strategy consulting firm or a business company.

• Experience in leading themes that directly engage with the management team, such as mid-term management plans, corporate strategies, and significant management challenges.

• Proven involvement in execution and outcome generation, through not only strategy formulation but also KPI design, progress management, and decision support.

• Work experience in the pharmaceuticals and life sciences industry.

• Strong problem-solving skills for complex and high-uncertainty management challenges.

• Ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative information and present management decision-making matters as options.

• Adequate understanding of management figures related to business planning, profit and loss structure, investment decisions, and capital efficiency.

• Capability to engage in discussions with executives and senior management on equal footing and advance consensus building.

• Leadership to engage stakeholders, including those from overseas regions, and drive decision-making and execution.

• Experience in maximizing team outcomes and mentoring junior and mid-level talent.

• Proficiency in conducting business in both Japanese and English.
