This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +2 more states.
• Aid in the standardization and enhancement of specialty pharmacy services throughout Bon Secours Mercy Health.
• Process prescription details and verify the accuracy of patient profiles.
• Assist clients with their prescriptions and specialty pharmacy orders.
• Receive prescriptions, collect customer information, and prepare prescription drug therapies.
• Document and keep patient charts and refill dates updated.
• Support prior authorizations and the appeals process for insurance denials.
• Coordinate the delivery of medications, supplies, and equipment.
• Answer and prioritize phone calls, faxes, and digital requests.
• Carry out pharmacy technician responsibilities and provide cross-training or coverage for departmental technician roles.
• Establish patient accounts for the specialty pharmacy and confirm insurance coverage.
• Assist patients with dealings with insurance companies, copay assistance, and other funding sources.
• Plan and organize prompt, efficient, and cost-effective patient deliveries.
• Communicate with internal departments, external specialty pharmacies, patients, providers, and clinic staff.
• Ensure the pharmacy is clean and well-stocked.
• Provide training for staff members and students as required.
• Valid Pharmacy Technician License certified by the applicable state board (mandatory).
• National Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician License (mandatory).
• High School diploma or GED (mandatory).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a provider clinic, specialty pharmacy, and/or retail pharmacy (mandatory).
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred).
• Proficiency in processing prescription information and completing accurate third-party billing.
• Capability to prepare prescription drug therapies in alignment with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
• Ability to assist with prior authorizations, insurance coverage, appeals, and copay assistance.
• Skills in coordinating medication deliveries and effective communication with patients, providers, insurers, and specialty pharmacies.
