Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee instructional programs and offer instructional support, virtual teaching, and general strategies for a caseload of students with special needs.

• Develop, draft, and assist in the execution of IEPs and 504 plans.

• Assess tests and evaluations, complete report cards, and hold parent conferences.

• Communicate with parents and learning coaches to ensure IEP objectives are achieved and student needs are met.

• Collaborate with teachers to coordinate tailored instruction for students with specific requirements and potential learning challenges.

• Deliver direct student services, including through web-conferencing platforms.

• Organize, schedule, and conduct IEP-related meetings virtually.

• Engage in the school’s Student Support Team activities.

• Assist teachers and learning coaches in developing and implementing program modifications and strategies.

• Support with IEP documentation, paperwork, and procedures.

• Aid in identifying service providers and assist in negotiating and finalizing service-provider contracts.

• Ensure accurate data management in the Learning Management System and special education software.

• Assist with state testing and coordinate necessary special adaptations as mandated by IEPs.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Degree in Special Education or a related educational field.

• Valid Special Education credential in Virginia.

• Experience in policy (IDEA) and/or administration within the field of Special Education.

• Proficient technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Highly organized and punctual.

• Customer-oriented approach.

• High level of adaptability.

• Proven capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong track record as a team player.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events, which may include overnight stays.

• Ability to work remotely, if necessary.

• Must be capable of utilizing a personal electronic device and email for 2-step authentication.
