This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Engage in modernization initiatives for legacy Java/JEE systems transitioning to containerized application architectures.
• Implement migration strategies for monolithic applications, utilizing methods such as strangler fig, incremental re-architecture, and ensuring coexistence between legacy and contemporary systems.
• Design security and authentication frameworks, along with communication and integration protocols between systems via REST APIs and messaging.
• Incorporate resilience and fault-tolerance patterns, caching mechanisms, distributed transactions, and queue management.
• Establish containerization strategies and facilitate the adoption of Kubernetes/OpenShift, including foundational infrastructure.
• Organize CI/CD pipelines and integrate GitOps practices for automated deployment processes.
• Develop deployment, monitoring, and observability strategies for various systems.
• Offer technical leadership in development and modernization efforts, actively participating in architecture discussions.
• Employ Software Engineering methodologies, Service-Oriented Architecture, and Reverse Engineering techniques.
• Utilize software design principles, including Hexagonal Architecture, Clean Code methodologies, Domain-Driven Design, API First approaches, ADRs, agile practices, and configuration management.
• Leverage basic project management techniques.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the field.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Framework / Spring Boot / Spring Cloud.
• Experience with REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters) and Clean Code principles.
• Knowledge of containerization with Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with messaging and queue systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Understanding of distributed caching solutions, like Redis.
• Competence in CI/CD practices with Bitbucket and GitOps using ArgoCD.
• Experience in authentication and authorization mechanisms with OAuth2 and JWT.
• Familiarity with resilience patterns such as Circuit Breaker, Retry, and Bulkhead.
• A degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
• Familiarity with legacy WebSphere systems.
• Experience with Java versions 6 through 21.
• Understanding of Oracle databases.
• Additional skills: experience with legacy Java 6/JEE applications, DWR, JSP, jQuery, and Spring Batch; experience with Grafana/Dynatrace; knowledge of CDN and MinIO; experience in asynchronous processing, parallel threads, and batch routines; familiarity with AI in software engineering, code-generation agents, LLMs, harness engineering, and Agent Skills.
