Solution Architect – Epic STARS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and architect solutions for Epic Healthy Planet, Reporting Workbench, Clarity/Caboodle, and SlicerDicer that support Medicare Star Ratings, HEDIS, as well as NCQA measure tracking and gap closure.

• Convert quality measure specifications into functional and technical requirements for Epic builds.

• Create scalable data models and reporting frameworks for the calculation of quality measures and monitoring of Star Ratings.

• Oversee the technical roadmap for Epic STARS-related builds, which include registries, care gap alerts, BPAs, and health maintenance topics.

• Collaborate with Quality, Population Health, ACO, and clinical leadership to translate business requirements into Epic solutions.

• Act as a technical liaison between clinical quality teams and Epic build/development teams.

• Work with analytics and reporting teams to ensure accurate and timely quality measure data feeds that align with CMS requirements.

• Present architectural recommendations, risk assessments, and solution alternatives to senior leadership and governance committees.

• Lead or supervise Epic builds that involve registries, health maintenance plans, documentation flowsheets, and quality dashboards.

• Assess workflows and suggest optimizations to enhance Star performance.

• Guarantee interoperability between Epic and external quality reporting platforms utilizing FHIR/HL7 where necessary.

• Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of quality measure logic.

• Keep documentation of architecture, data flows, and build decisions updated for audit readiness and knowledge continuity.

• Ensure adherence to CMS, NCQA, and internal data governance standards.

• Engage in change control and release management activities.

• Monitor updates related to CMS Star Ratings, HEDIS, and Epic Healthy Planet.

• Discover opportunities to leverage new Epic functionality to enhance Star Ratings outcomes.

• Mentor junior analysts and build staff on best practices for Epic quality measure architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with Epic, including hands-on involvement in Healthy Planet, Clarity/Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, or SlicerDicer.

• Experience in supporting Medicare Star Ratings, HEDIS, and/or NCQA quality measure initiatives.

• Strong comprehension of value-based care and ACO population health operations.

• Proven ability to translate clinical/quality specifications into technical build requirements.

• Familiarity with FHIR/HL7 interoperability standards.

• Epic certification(s) in Healthy Planet or Reporting Cadence, ClinDoc, or related modules is highly preferred.

• Experience with agile delivery tools such as Rally is preferred.

• Previous experience in a health plan, ACO, or integrated delivery network environment is preferred.

• Knowledge of risk adjustment and quality reporting vendor platforms is preferred.

• Strong presentation and stakeholder management abilities, with experience in briefing senior leadership.

• Analytical rigor and meticulous attention to detail in measure logic and data validation.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, both in writing and verbally, to non-technical stakeholders.
