Network Design and System Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Assist in the rollout of broadband solutions from initial pre-sales activities through to production deployment.

• Take responsibility for the design, integration, and testing of broadband access systems.

• Transform architectural designs into functioning IP network solutions and comprehensive customer installation and integration plans.

• Serve as the primary technical liaison for customer projects.

• Articulate solution requirements to both internal teams and clients while providing clear technical guidance.

• Manage project tasks from start to finish.

• Facilitate client lab integration, testing, qualification, field trials, and production deployments of the access network platform.

• Educate clients on system operation and troubleshooting techniques.

• Evaluate new software and hardware, reporting and tracking defects to the engineering team.

• Deliver both on-site and remote technical support.

• Identify and resolve customer issues, escalating them through Harmonic's 24/7 Technical Assistance Center as necessary.

• Report directly to the Director of Broadband System Integration.

• Collaborate on key customer accounts within North American time zones.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in integrating, testing, or operating networks in an internet service provider or telecommunications setting.

• Profound knowledge in IP routing (BGP, OSPF), Layer 2 technologies (VLAN/802.1Q, QinQ, LACP, MSTP), network overlays (VXLAN, MPLS), IP multicast (IGMP, PIM), and vBNG functionalities (subscriber management, PPPoE/IPoE, QoS enforcement), encompassing design, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Strong Linux networking capabilities, including debugging routing, interfaces, packet captures, firewalls, tunnels, timing, and performance issues.

• Familiarity with Wireshark or similar tools for packet and protocol analysis.

• Capability to comprehend technical documentation, network protocol standards and RFCs, software and hardware configuration guides, schematics, work instructions, and test procedures.

• Proficient in developing and presenting technical solutions to clients and internal teams.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.

• Business-level proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

• Understanding of service provider network and service design is advantageous.

• Knowledge of PON technologies and BBF network architecture standards, including TR-101, TR-156, and TR-178, is a bonus.

• Familiarity with the OMCI protocol (ITU-T G.988) is an added advantage.

• Experience with cloud-based Kubernetes networking is a plus.

• Background in pre-sales technical support, including product demonstrations and feasibility analysis, is beneficial.
