Solicitor / CILEX Litigator / Costs Lawyer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Manage a caseload of paying party claims, typically involving a claimed value of up to £100,000 on a daily basis.

• Prepare points of dispute and offer legal counsel regarding anticipated assessed outcomes related to paying party claims.

• Assist the Legal Director of the paying party team with operational tasks and the delivery of the paying party service.

• Serve as a primary contact for clients, showcasing a level of expertise and skill appropriate to experience.

• Ensure complete compliance with clients' SLAs and DAC Beachcroft's internal procedures.

• Take responsibility for quality control and compliance benchmarks on your own caseload, including the accuracy and timeliness of management reports and information.

• Maintain strict and continuous compliance with benchmark standards in all tasks performed.

• Exhibit a high level of financial management concerning personal files.

• Meet, sustain, and apply a consistent strategy for all individual targets related to chargeable time, financial performance, realization rates, settlement rates, and average claim expenditure.

• Achieve a minimum annual target of 1,440 chargeable hours per year, based on a full-time lawyer's schedule.

• Adhere fully to DAC Beachcroft's protocols regarding billing and credit control while demonstrating strong financial management of personal files.

• Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives within the team, such as participating in marketing events and client training.

• Stay informed about the firm's strategies and plans.

• Enhance and expand technical knowledge by attending training sessions and reviewing relevant publications.

• Handle confidential information according to the firm's data security protocols.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ideally possess ten years of experience in managing costs associated with litigation, including drafting points of dispute and all facets of challenging costs. Candidates with less than ten years of experience who can demonstrate an adequate level of competency are also encouraged to apply.

• Preferably have experience in demonstrating technical leadership.

• Advocacy experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

• A proven track record of pursuing strategic points and engaging with clients with a strong customer service orientation is ideal.

• This role is ideally suited for a qualified Costs Lawyer, although applicants with extensive experience who are not qualified will also be considered, along with those possessing other qualifications relevant to costs disputes.

• Must be a confident negotiator, able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.

• Demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to be a flexible and self-motivated team player.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload/tasks.

• Experience working in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

• Ability to approach legal issues from a commercial perspective rather than solely an academic viewpoint.

• Capable of producing high-quality work with meticulous attention to detail.
