Software Engineer/Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain Python-based services, including REST APIs with FastAPI, batch processing jobs, and shared libraries.

• Implement functionalities within claims, eligibility, and drug pricing processes.

• Create well-structured, maintainable, and unit-tested code.

• Write and optimize SQL queries against MySQL databases, including reports and stored procedures.

• Engage throughout the complete application lifecycle: design, code review, deployment, and production support.

• Work collaboratively across various departments to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance delivery speed while maintaining responsibility for correctness, testing, and reviews.

• Develop and maintain services for pharmacy and medical claims processing, batch data pipelines, and internal web applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 3 years of hands-on experience in Python development.

• Strong foundation in computer science principles: data structures, testing, and version control (git).

• Careful and disciplined approach to handling sensitive data.

• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL (preferably MySQL).

• Experience in developing RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI preferred).

• Proficient with Atlassian tools and Agile development methodologies.

• Comfortable working within Linux environments.

• Experience using AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar), with the ability to discern when to trust their outputs.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer support, visa transfer, DSO documentation, or sponsorship now or in the future.

• Experience in the healthcare industry is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with HIPAA/PHI regulations is a plus.

• Exposure to AWS is beneficial.
