Software Engineering, Team Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Oversee engineering teams that provide essential assessment services within Vue Testing Services, OnVue Exam Developer, and Test Delivery.

• Recruit, onboard, mentor, develop, and retain engineers and technical staff.

• Establish clear objectives, feedback mechanisms, development strategies, and team operating procedures.

• Convert product and departmental priorities into attainable team objectives, resource allocations, and accountability.

• Monitor sprint and release progress, dependencies, obstacles, defects, quality, and immediate delivery risks.

• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Quality Engineering, DevOps, Security, Operations, and business stakeholders.

• Uphold standards for design, testing, automation, security, observability, documentation, and operational readiness.

• Leverage engineering, delivery, quality, and team indicators to uncover patterns and promote enhancements.

• Facilitate responsible integration of AI-assisted development, testing, reviews, and documentation while ensuring quality and security are maintained.

• Lead with minimal hands-on coding required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid technical background in software engineering, quality engineering, architecture, technology solutions, or a closely related field.

• Proven experience in leading, coaching, or managing technical professionals and creating effective teams.

• Experience in delivering software products, platforms, or technology services in Agile or similarly iterative frameworks.

• Demonstrable track record of leading significant change, making informed decisions, and enhancing delivery or team effectiveness.

• Familiarity with contemporary software delivery methods, cloud technologies, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, security, reliability, observability, and operational readiness.

• Experience in making decisions regarding personnel, capacity, priorities, and delivery in a cross-functional context.

• Experience collaborating with distributed teams, functions, or across different time zones.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, demonstrating sound judgment concerning quality and risk.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-influence abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent hands-on experience.
