This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Lead the design, development, integration, and support of Legal Technology products and platforms.
• Create, develop, and uphold cloud-native applications, APIs, integrations, and event-driven services.
• Engage directly in coding, code reviews, architectural design, troubleshooting, and providing production support.
• Integrate and orchestrate vendor-supplied legal applications with enterprise systems.
• Drive technical decisions related to cloud platforms, application modernization, data management, integration patterns, and AI services.
• Take ownership of product reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence, including incident response and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, Legal, Compliance, Security, and Technology teams.
• Design and implement AI-driven solutions utilizing Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and intelligent automation.
• Lead experimentation, innovation, and the adoption of emerging AI technologies and legal tech solutions.
• Manage vendor relationships, product upgrades, integration initiatives, and platform lifecycle activities.
• Establish operational KPIs, service-level objectives, and engineering metrics.
• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers.
• Influence stakeholders and engineering teams to embrace modern engineering and AI best practices.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience is preferred.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and platform engineering tasks.
• Experience in designing and supporting highly available production systems with accountability for reliability, security, and performance.
• Extensive experience with enterprise integrations, API management, workflow orchestration, SaaS platforms, and messaging technologies like Kafka.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, Kubernetes, and cloud-native data services.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience in building or integrating AI-powered solutions utilizing Azure OpenAI, LLMs, RAG, vector databases, or related technologies.
• Familiarity with AI frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration platforms.
• Proven experience working in Agile environments and collaborating directly with business stakeholders.
• Background in Legal Technology, Compliance, Risk Management, RegTech, or similar fields.
• Experience with legal research, document intelligence, contract lifecycle management, eDiscovery, or knowledge management solutions.
• Experience in managing relationships with technology vendors and SaaS providers.
• Proven experience leading cloud modernization, integration, or AI transformation initiatives.
