Software Engineering Manager, Data & Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Define and lead the strategy for Limble's analytical data infrastructure.

• Design the interface between transactional data repositories and the analytical layer.

• Architect and take ownership of the reporting framework utilized by stream-aligned engineering teams.

• Collaborate with product leadership to convert customer and business analytics requirements into a technical roadmap.

• Build, recruit, and manage a high-performing data and analytics engineering team.

• Guide architectural decisions through ADR evaluations with Principal and Staff engineers.

• Establish data freshness and quality SLAs, develop alert systems, and communicate pipeline issues to stakeholders.

• Implement data governance and quality standards.

• Promote the adoption of the reporting framework across stream-aligned teams.

• Review essential design choices, contribute to architecture discussions, and assist the team in overcoming technical challenges.

• Explore and utilize AI tools to enhance customer-facing insights.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a management or technical leadership role.

• Demonstrated experience in designing data infrastructure on AWS, including services such as Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redshift, S3, and related technologies.

• In-depth understanding of operational versus analytical data stores and the design of pipelines connecting them.

• Strong expertise in data modeling, ELT/ETL pipeline development, and creating analytics-ready datasets.

• Experience in building or contributing to a reporting or analytics framework used by multiple engineering teams or product interfaces.

• Experience managing data pipeline observability, including monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and incident response related to data freshness and quality.

• Actively using AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar in daily development tasks.

• Some familiarity with integrating AI-driven features within a SaaS product.

• Proficient in writing design documents, reviewing schemas, and providing input on query optimization.

• Proven ability to hire and nurture engineering talent.

• Excellent communication skills for articulating data architecture decisions to product and business stakeholders.

• Preference for straightforward solutions over complex alternatives.

• Residing in or around the Charlotte, NC metro area.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• Nice to have: experience with embedded or in-app analytics.

• Nice to have: familiarity with AWS event streaming technologies such as Kinesis, MSK, EventBridge, or Kafka.

• Nice to have: experience with AWS Glue, Athena, or Lake Formation.

• Nice to have: B2B SaaS experience within a company of 50–200 employees.

• Nice to have: exposure to regulated software environments like SOC 2 or HIPAA.

• Nice to have: experience with BI or visualization tools such as Metabase, Looker, or Tableau.
