Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and nurture software engineers as well as emerging technical and leadership talents.

• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, curiosity, and ongoing improvement.

• Ensure teams assume complete responsibility for application health, reliability, security, maintainability, and customer experience.

• Promote cross-training, knowledge sharing, experimentation, and skill enhancement.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Quality Engineering, DevOps, Delivery, Operations, and business stakeholders.

• Align engineering priorities with business goals, customer outcomes, platform adoption, and delivered value.

• Spearhead strategic modernization of legacy applications.

• Drive advancements in CI/CD, automation, observability, resilience, secure development, and cloud-native architecture.

• Advocate for AI-SDLC investments and promote the adoption of AI-assisted engineering methodologies.

• Oversee priorities, risks, dependencies, capacity, and commitments.

• Utilize insights from delivery, operations, quality, and people development to steer decisions and foster continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Significant experience in leading engineering teams, cultivating technical and leadership talent, and driving organizational or platform transformation.

• Proven track record in coaching engineers, developing talent, and forming high-performing teams.

• Demonstrated ability to enhance ownership, accountability, collaboration, learning, and delivery effectiveness.

• Experience leading teams that manage customer-facing web applications and supporting platforms through technical, organizational, or cultural transitions.

• Familiarity with modernizing legacy applications and embracing cutting-edge architecture and engineering practices.

• Strong comprehension of software architecture, APIs and integrations, CI/CD, DevOps, application operations, and Agile delivery.

• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools or AI-enabled engineering workflows and the capability to guide responsible adoption.

• Excellent communication, coaching, stakeholder management, and change leadership abilities.

• Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or cloud-native architecture patterns.

• Preferred: experience in platform engineering, containerization, observability, resilience engineering, or site reliability practices.

• Preferred: experience leading modernization efforts in environments that include legacy applications and physical data center infrastructure.

• Preferred: experience establishing practices for adoption, enablement, governance, or measurement related to AI-assisted engineering.

• Preferred: experience in travel, cruise, hospitality, e-commerce, or other customer-facing digital platforms.

• Preferred: experience leading distributed or remote engineering teams.
