Software Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and guide the engineering team.

• Conduct code reviews that consider acceptance criteria, robustness, style, and maintainability.

• Steer the technical direction during the transition from desktop and mobile applications to a cloud-based infrastructure.

• Engage with the entire system, encompassing feature development, infrastructure, production reliability, and monitoring.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery that meets business and customer needs.

• Guarantee system scalability and performance.

• Partner with the product team to design and architect features that improve productivity for writers and address their challenges.

• Plan upgrades for infrastructure and toolsets while tackling technical debt.

• Uphold best practices to maintain platform uptime, stability, and responsiveness.

• Implement new policies as required.

• Drive velocity and seek opportunities for enhancement.

• Contribute high-quality code to various issues and products.

• Report to the Vice President of Engineering at Final Draft.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software development.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields is advantageous.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; AWS is highly preferred.

• Recent experience in cloud-based NoSQL, with a preference for MongoDB.

• Strong expertise in TypeScript or JavaScript for backend development.

• Proficiency in React, React Native, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for frontend development.

• Familiarity with system design principles and patterns, including object-oriented programming and functional programming.

• Understanding of data modeling, REST APIs, and API gateway patterns.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and serverless architecture.

• Competence with infrastructure as code tools and practices.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.

• Awareness of cloud cost management and optimization.

• Software development experience in the US-based Media and Entertainment industry.

• Familiarity with Responsible GenAI, LLM, and RAG implementation is a plus.
