This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and curriculum developers to create comprehensive features that are accessible, user-friendly, and engaging in real-world classroom settings.
• Write and maintain production-ready code utilizing JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and SQL.
• Utilize AWS services such as S3 and CloudWatch for asset storage, logging, and infrastructure management.
• Quickly prototype and refine AI-driven products aimed at enhancing student experiences.
• Assess, choose, and integrate generative AI models while prioritizing safety, bias reduction, and efficacy.
• Take ownership of complex projects, influence technical decisions, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, sustainable solutions.
• Monitor production issues, implement updates, address user-submitted concerns, and respond to inquiries from teachers and students.
• Promote a collaborative team culture through knowledge sharing, code reviews, and assisting team members in achieving success.
• A strong passion for increasing access to computer science and AI education, along with a commitment to building tools that support the success of students and educators.
• Over 8 years of experience in developing and maintaining consumer-grade full-stack web applications, ideally with expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and SQL.
• Practical experience using agentic AI tools for software development, with a proven ability to continuously adapt to new tools and workflows as the industry evolves.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and the ability to support high-scale production applications.
• Experience in technical leadership, whether through guiding architectural transformations, setting technical strategies, or mentoring colleagues.
• Capability to manage projects autonomously, including breaking down tasks into smaller features, making informed trade-offs, and effectively communicating progress.
• A collaborative approach, with a strong commitment to supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and contributing to an inclusive engineering culture.
• Experience in developing AI-powered products or educational technology, especially in creating tools that facilitate student learning with LLMs (preferred).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Willingness to work within the continental United States.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Willingness to travel at least twice per year for team events.
