Software Engineer – Supervisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the software and programming solutions created for FORTÉ Systems' clients.

• Implement industry best practices in control system and software engineering.

• Cultivate and uphold an exceptional customer experience for both FORTÉ Systems branches and clients.

• Inspire and lead control system programmers and software engineers to develop top-notch customer solutions.

• Ensure that systems programming services are completed promptly and align with system design specifications as well as functional and operational requirements.

• Create new code to meet project demands.

• Support backend programming to connect content with data utilizing HTML 5, C(x), JavaScript, Python, Visual Basic Script, and TypeScript.

• Adhere to a critical path to ensure timely product delivery.

• Develop and manage software storage and code libraries.

• Establish and uphold programming standards that facilitate consistent code updates while promoting originality.

• Maintain a minimum chargeability of 75% for the supervised employee team.

• Supervise the daily activities of Control System Programmers and Software Engineers.

• Plan, allocate, and oversee tasks with AV Project Managers, assessing skillsets and workloads necessary for timely project completion.


⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of programming languages including HTML 5, Python, Java, or C(x) languages, along with experience in software development methodologies.

• Extensive knowledge of AV control systems programming such as Crestron, Q-Sys, Extron, etc.

• 1-3 years of experience in developing AV-related code.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required, or equivalent industry certification along with relevant experience.

• A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred but not essential.

• Relevant certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or other project management and technical credentials are advantageous.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and effectively manage a team.

• Excellent analytical skills to identify and address technical challenges.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize tasks efficiently.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
