This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Become a part of the Entitlements Team to create and develop applications and services that drive the Leadership Connect platform.
• Design, construct, test, deploy, and support production applications and services.
• Develop APIs and backend services utilizing Kotlin/Java, Python, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
• Work with both relational and NoSQL databases, search technologies, and extensive datasets.
• Contribute to distributed systems and microservice architectures operating in AWS.
• Engage in planning, design, estimation, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.
• Leverage AI coding assistants and agents for research, planning, development, testing, debugging, refactoring, and documentation purposes.
• Assess AI-generated implementations for quality, accuracy, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to devise technical solutions.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, engineering standards, and development practices.
• Senior-level candidates may offer mentorship to engineers and enhance team productivity.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience for mid-level candidates or 6 years for senior-level candidates.
• Solid computer science and software engineering foundations through a CS-related degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in designing and developing production web applications, APIs, or backend services.
• Comprehensive understanding of HTTP, REST, API design, relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and database architecture.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin/Java with Spring Boot or a similar JVM framework, OR Python and its modern application ecosystem.
• Willingness and capability to work across JVM and Python technologies as required.
• Experience in writing maintainable, thoroughly tested production software.
• Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Git and current collaborative development workflows.
• Regular and meaningful use of AI coding tools or agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
• Ability to critically assess and validate AI-generated solutions.
• For senior-level candidates: strong system design and architectural judgment, production ownership, evaluating scalability/reliability/performance/security/cost tradeoffs, diagnosing complex distributed systems, handling ambiguity, conducting code/design reviews, and providing mentorship.
