Software Engineer, Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and develop sustainable, clear, and elegant code.

• Rearchitect and refine existing software as necessary.

• Contribute to the creation of technical and product specifications.

• Collaborate with stakeholders on architectural and design choices.

• Test software for reliability and robustness using various testing paradigms and libraries.

• Review specifications and provide code feedback for ongoing improvement and collaborative design.

• Conduct specification and code reviews for team members.

• Suggest new tools and process enhancements.

• Engage in continuous learning of different programming paradigms and emerging technologies.

• Work within a highly collaborative team of engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Scala backend development.

• At least 2 years of experience in translating business domains into SQL schemas.

• Familiarity with message-driven architectures, such as Pulsar.

• Knowledge of API design using REST or GraphQL.

• Understanding and experience with modern cloud-native infrastructure and Kubernetes.

• Responsible for builds and CI/CD processes, including CircleCI and GitOps with ArgoCD for backend deployments.

• Strong communication skills, a focus on feedback and continuous improvement, and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

• Capability to take ownership and initiative on tasks/projects and share innovative ideas with the team.

• Significant backend/application development experience; candidates whose main expertise lies in Scala-based data engineering, Spark, ETL, or Big Data development without substantial backend/application development experience will not be considered.

• Intermediate-level Scala Engineer profile.
