Software Engineer – Platform Metal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the physical “Metal” environment, ranging from bare metal to Kubernetes.

• Manage networking components for clusters, including load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, and architectural design.

• Handle scheduling and autoscaling functions.

• Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for Cloud Service Provider (CSP) resources.

• Supervise versioning and compatibility for Crossplane, Terraform core, and its providers.

• Collaborate with Grafana Cloud application teams to evaluate their requirements and invest in appropriate capabilities.

• Ability to thrive in a remote-first work environment.

• Proven experience with distributed systems.

• Comprehensive approach to software development, encompassing design documents, developer feedback, and integration testing.

• Experience in operating code and providing support to both operators and developers.

• Familiarity with data center operations.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Proficiency in Go, Python, and Shell programming languages.

• Bonus: Experience with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, and/or Ceph.

• Bonus: Involvement in open-source or community-driven projects.

• Bonus: Experience with managed Kubernetes services from AWS, GCP, and Azure (EKS, GKE, AKS).

• Bonus: Experience in operating and managing workloads on Kubernetes.
