Software Engineer – PHP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +28 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop information systems by analyzing operations, designing, creating, and implementing software solutions.

• Provide support and foster growth within the software team.

• Collaborate with leadership to establish software requirements.

• Oversee operational and technical projects.

• Design, construct, and maintain small to medium-sized features and services utilizing object-oriented design principles.

• Take ownership of technical implementation from design to deployment with minimal supervision.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity, expedite debugging, and facilitate test creation.

• Create reusable, testable components that align with existing architecture, interfaces, and coding standards.

• Identify and resolve complex bugs and performance issues using logs, metrics, and traces.

• Contribute to automated testing efforts, including unit and integration tests, while enhancing test coverage.

• Engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers when appropriate.

• Implement secure coding practices and address common web and application security vulnerabilities.

• Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and engineers during sprint planning, estimation, and backlog refinement.

• Maintain and enhance technical documentation.

• Remain updated on engineering and AI-assisted development practices, sharing effective techniques with the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development using an object-oriented language (PHP preferred).

• Strong grasp of OOP principles, design patterns, and clean coding practices.

• Experience in a Linux-based development environment.

• Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS3.

• Solid background in relational databases and SQL/MySQL.

• Working knowledge of system architecture concepts, debugging strategies, and observability fundamentals (logs, metrics, tracing).

• Proven commitment to code quality, testing, and maintainable design.

• Practical experience with or a strong interest in responsibly using AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, or documentation.

• Familiarity with Docker or containerized environments (a plus).

• Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms (a plus).

• Experience in leveraging AI to enhance engineering workflows (a plus).
