Software Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and maintain healthcare interfaces utilizing Mirth Connect.

• Create intricate HL7v2 integration workflows for message parsing, transformation, validation, routing, and delivery.

• Develop reusable JavaScript-based transformations and business logic within the Mirth Connect environment.

• Integrate healthcare systems through protocols such as TCP/MLLP, HTTP/HTTPS, SFTP, and others.

• Convert business and technical requirements into scalable, production-ready integration solutions.

• Collaborate effectively with engineering teams, healthcare organizations, and external vendors.

• Contribute to solutions for healthcare interoperability and integration architecture.

• Enhance integration performance, reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.

• Monitor and provide support for production healthcare interfaces and workflows.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to message processing, transformation, routing, connectivity, certificates, and downstream systems.

• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective measures.

• Enhance logging, monitoring, alerting, error handling, and operational automation processes.

• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical production integrations.

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, engineers, analysts, and vendors.

• Engage in design, architecture, code, and configuration reviews.

• Create and maintain interface specifications, mapping documents, design documents, and operational runbooks.

• Mentor engineers and act as a technical resource for Mirth Connect, HL7v2, and healthcare interoperability.

• Contribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns, and continuous improvement initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering and/or healthcare integration experience.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in developing and supporting Mirth Connect integrations.

• Strong practical expertise in HL7v2, including message structure, segments, fields, components, repetitions, acknowledgments, and common message types.

• Experience in designing and implementing Mirth Connect channels, including connectors, filters, transformers, and JavaScript.

• Significant experience with TCP/MLLP, HTTP/HTTPS, and SFTP protocols.

• Proven production troubleshooting experience related to connectivity, message delivery, transformation, routing, and downstream systems.

• Working knowledge of JavaScript for Mirth transformations and integration logic.

• Understanding of SSL/TLS, certificates, keystores/truststores, and secure endpoint configurations.

• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.

• Experience with software development lifecycle practices, including source control, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with FHIR, EHR/EMR integrations, CCDA/C-CDA, XDS.b, XCA, healthcare interoperability standards, REST APIs, MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, other healthcare interface engines, cloud platforms, MCCD certification, and engagement in technical communities.
