Staff Software Engineer, Speech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as the technical lead for the Speech function by establishing direction, influencing architectural decisions, and mentoring engineers.

• Collaborate with Research Scientists to transition speech models from evaluation stages to production.

• Develop and enhance real-time audio capture and streaming capabilities within the React/TypeScript web application.

• Design and manage distributed Python backend services that support the speech platform.

• Contribute to the infrastructure that underpins speech systems.

• Troubleshoot and enhance production reliability and performance utilizing modern observability tools.

• Collaborate with Product, UX, and Customer Success teams to deliver features in a high-scale, HIPAA-compliant environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in developing audio or multimedia software.

• Strong full-stack development skills, with comprehensive knowledge of TypeScript/React and Python.

• Familiarity with browser audio APIs (Web Audio, AudioWorklet) and real-time audio streaming techniques.

• Significant experience with WebSockets and real-time client–server communication.

• Proven background in building and managing distributed systems.

• Proficient in debugging production challenges using observability tools (e.g., Sentry, Grafana).

• Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities, including mentoring engineers and guiding technical direction within a team.

• Strong background in testing practices (unit and integration) and experience working with distributed teams.

• Candidates must reside in the United States.
