Software Engineer II – Offboard, Python Application

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Enhance the cloud framework for simulation/resimulation and applications that facilitate large-scale vehicle simulations.

• Develop Python code that interfaces with open-source libraries and AWS/GCP services.

• Detect scalability issues through benchmarking and create dashboards to monitor performance effectively.

• Implement strategies to improve the efficiency of the framework.

• Refine system usability according to user feedback and observed usage patterns.

• Collaborate with teams focused on autonomy, systems, testing, and others to pinpoint future enhancements.

• Document the framework thoroughly to empower autonomy teams to extend it autonomously.

• Aid in the efficient storage and retrieval of vehicle logs, including automated indexing and dataset coverage analysis.

• Establish and support performance metrics for both autonomous vehicle simulations and resimulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, along with 4+ years of relevant experience (or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD).

• Proficient in writing Python code that is efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested.

• At least 2 years of experience developing scalable applications that operate in a cloud or HPC environment.

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in creating software that interacts with AWS and/or GCP services.

• Familiarity with NumPy and scientific programming is essential.

• A strong willingness and eagerness to learn how onboard and offboard components interact, proposing solutions to enhance collaboration between developers and testers.

• C++ development experience is a plus (optional).

• Experience with Kubernetes is advantageous (optional).

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
