Software Engineer II – Lunar Permanence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Work closely with engineers to implement features outlined in the roadmap.

• Develop new functionalities utilizing both backend and frontend technologies, including Java, JavaScript, and React.

• Integrate with AWS services such as DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and SNS.

• Engage in code reviews and assist colleagues in producing high-quality code.

• Convey ideas effectively through verbal communication, diagrams, and coding.

• Identify and resolve issues within existing software applications.

• Tackle technical challenges as they arise.

• Create tools that transform how Lunar Permanence manages, analyzes, and automates engineering data.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a relevant discipline.

• Over 3 years of experience in software development and deployment in production settings.

• Expertise in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C++.

• A solid understanding of computer science principles, including algorithms and common data structures.

• Familiarity with AI tools, including Claude or ChatGPT, to produce production-ready code.

• Capability to write efficient and functional code based on clear specifications.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Skill in building trust and fostering positive relationships within a team environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A passion for space exploration and alignment with Blue Origin's mission.

• Preferred experience in aerospace/systems engineering or software development in an aerospace context.

• Experience with React, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript is preferred.

• Familiarity with deploying software on AWS services like RDS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and S3 using Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools is preferred.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code is a plus.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies is preferred.

• Background in Model-Based Systems Engineering or relevant aerospace industry experience is preferred.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, a permanent resident, or legally admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or with asylum granted.

• Completion of Blue's Standard Background Check is required.
