Software Engineer II, Backend – Streaming

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Decompose larger projects into smaller tasks and deliver them across several phases.

• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely project completion.

• Engage with product management, design, and analytics teams during the ideation and product development phases.

• Communicate technical limitations and collaborate on risk management and trade-off decisions.

• Establish and track metrics for team outputs.

• Address operational challenges and assist with support availability and on-call responsibilities.

• Take part in growth and development initiatives, including conducting interviews.

• Discover and implement new use cases for data infrastructure.

• Design and enhance streaming and event-driven infrastructure.

• Collaborate with other teams to enhance data utilization across the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems.

• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.

• Understanding of distributed systems.

• Familiarity with AWS, Kafka, Flink, and Kubernetes.

• Capability to create solutions that interact with multiple software components.

• Strong skills in writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.

• Ability to navigate extensive codebases and troubleshoot others' code.

• Experience in providing constructive code review feedback.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
