Software Engineer, Finance Applications

📋 Description

• Develop the financial operations and reporting framework for Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and Procurement.

• Design the migration of essential workflows from legacy vendor platforms to Block’s internal systems.

• Create configurable workflow engines, implement rules-based routing, and establish event-driven automations.

• Design, construct, and sustain integrations between internal platforms and external systems.

• Convert intricate financial and regulatory requirements into technical solutions.

• Develop systems with audit trails, access controls, and data governance protocols.

• Lead architectural decisions, participate in design reviews, and guide engineers.

• Manage AI agents throughout the development lifecycle.

• Spot opportunities to automate engineering tasks and enhance code quality through AI-driven reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience working on complex systems and delivering high-quality software, with significant expertise in one or more technical domains.

• An AI-first approach and the ability to utilize AI to enhance development knowledge and skills.

• Knowledge of agentic engineering principles.

• Strong foundation in distributed systems design.

• Experience with workflow or state machine systems.

• Expertise in building and maintaining APIs and integrations, including REST, gRPC, event-driven architectures, and data synchronization.

• Experience with systems that handle financial data or are subject to regulation.

• Excellent collaboration abilities and the capacity to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
