Software Engineer – Cash App Taxes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and take ownership of features and systems that enhance the Cash App Taxes filing experience.

• Create federal and state form logic to facilitate e-file submissions.

• Convert intricate tax regulations and requirements into clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code.

• Build tools and safeguards that empower non-technical team members to safely implement code changes.

• Lead architectural and design choices for scalable, secure, and maintainable tax software solutions.

• Set best practices for coding, testing, deployment, and documentation.

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Tax Product Specialists, Cloud Platform, Design, Product, Customer Care, and various other teams.

• Detect and address issues related to accuracy, reliability, and performance.

• Balance the development of new features with the ongoing maintenance of existing systems.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.

• Utilize an AI-first approach in daily tasks.

• Over 4 years of professional experience in software development.

• Preferred experience in a dynamic or product-focused environment.

• Background in the tax industry is a significant advantage.

• Strong skills in backend development.

• Knowledge of system design and architecture.

• Proficiency in object-oriented programming.

• Proven track record of delivering dependable, high-quality software solutions on time.

• Exceptional communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Enthusiasm for creating innovative software.

• Familiarity with Java / Kotlin.

• Knowledge or experience with iBatis / SQL relational databases.

• Understanding of tools such as Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, GCP, AWS, GitHub, HTTP, JSON, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Okta, Linear, and AI coding agents.
