Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, produce, test, and implement functional software throughout the system lifecycle.

• Lead technical delivery within a dedicated feature team.

• Gain knowledge of the associated platform encompassing business, applications, data, and infrastructure disciplines.

• Collaborate with principal engineers, domain architects, and key stakeholders to understand platform operations and business objectives.

• Oversee solution design options and articulate trade-offs to stakeholders.

• Guide estimation activities and ensure delivery plans accurately reflect technical complexity, maintainability, and supportability.

• Utilize Agile methodologies for software development on the backlog.

• Create robust, long-lasting software and adjust to future requirements.

• Deliver intentional architecture and develop emergent design through innovation, experimentation, and prototyping.

• Design and develop software that automates build, test, and deployment processes using executable patterns.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in the banking or financial services sector.

• Strong practical experience in developing and delivering solutions utilizing modern Java technologies.

• Experience in designing and developing microservices and distributed systems.

• Solid understanding of software architecture and design principles.

• Proficiency in working with relational databases, preferably Oracle or PostgreSQL.

• Experience in building cloud-based solutions on AWS.

• Proven track record in implementing programming best practices related to scalability, automation, virtualization, optimization, availability, and performance.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Collaboration skills to work effectively with business teams on practical solutions.

• Familiarity with information security policies and practices in the financial sector.

• Exposure to AI technologies such as LLMs, machine learning, or agentic systems.

• Experience in leading or mentoring engineers.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Familiarity with Spring Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Agile delivery practices is advantageous.
