Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Function autonomously within an Agile team, transforming vague requirements from concept to production.

• Engage in the complete Scrum/Agile sprint cycle, which includes backlog refinement, sprint planning, capacity estimation, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to clarify requirements, converting ambiguous requests into well-defined, estimable stories.

• Implement contemporary software design patterns and maintain separation of concerns throughout the codebase.

• Create and develop proofs of concept to test new methodologies prior to full-scale implementation.

• Design and establish systems that manage structured, semi-structured, unstructured, and schema-bound data formats, such as CSV, relational data, JSON, and Avro.

• Contribute to the architecture and design patterns for big data, encompassing batch and/or streaming pipelines, data partitioning, and scalable processing.

• Work closely with UI/UX teams on interface design choices and ensure frontend implementation aligns with usability and design objectives.

• Develop microservices architectures involving service decomposition, inter-service communication, API contracts, and independent deployability.

• Design data layers and persistence solutions across both relational SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Leverage cloud platforms and utilize managed compute, storage, and data services.

• Demonstrated experience in Scrum/Agile environments, including sprint planning, capacity estimation, and iterative delivery.

• Solid understanding of modern design patterns, encompassing strategy, factory, repository, and observer.

• Knowledge and application of separation of concerns to enhance maintainability and testability.

• Experience collaborating on UI/UX and refining requirements.

• Practical experience with structured, semi-structured, unstructured, and schema-based data formats, including CSV, JSON, and Avro.

• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, the Hadoop ecosystem, or similar.

• Proven experience in building and validating proofs of concept.

• Experience in designing and developing microservices architectures with service decomposition, inter-service communication, API contracts, and independent deployability.

• Strong understanding of data layer and persistence design patterns, including repository pattern, unit of work, CQRS, data access layer abstraction, ORM versus raw query trade-offs, caching strategies, and database design for both relational SQL and NoSQL.

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, utilizing core compute, storage, and managed data services from at least one major provider.

• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages beyond the primary stack, such as Python, Scala, Go, Java, Kotlin, Rust, TypeScript/Node.js, or C# (preferred).

• Exposure to multiple cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with familiarity with cloud-native patterns such as containers, Kubernetes, serverless, and managed data/streaming services (preferred).
