Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and improve software applications that support insurance and accounting functions.

• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.

• Convert business and technical requirements into effective software solutions.

• Create features for policy processing, claims management, billing, payment processing, invoicing, reconciliation, and reporting workflows.

• Build and sustain integrations between insurance, accounting, CRM, payment, reporting, and other business systems.

• Work with APIs, web services, file transfers, scheduled jobs, middleware, relational databases, and SQL.

• Implement processes for data validation, transformation, error handling, and data management.

• Investigate and resolve data inconsistencies, integration failures, processing errors, and production issues.

• Develop unit tests, integration tests, and automated test coverage.

• Assist with application deployments, release activities, and configuration changes.

• Monitor application performance utilizing logs, metrics, and diagnostic tools.

• Engage in incident management, root-cause analysis, and enhancements following incidents.

• Apply secure coding practices while supporting access control, authentication, authorization, data protection, compliance, and audit readiness.

• Collaborate with product teams, engineering, QA, operations, security, and business stakeholders.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, retrospectives, and technical discussions.

• Estimate workload, communicate progress, highlight risks or blockers, and suggest improvements.

• Contribute to documentation, onboarding, knowledge transfer, and the sharing of technical knowledge.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 2+ years of professional experience in software development, application engineering, or a related position.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or an equivalent.

• Strong understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.

• Experience in developing or integrating RESTful APIs, web services, or other system interfaces.

• Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and basic database performance.

• Familiarity with Git or another version control system and collaborative development workflows.

• Understanding of unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and quality assurance practices.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to analyzing technical issues.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, reliable, and maintainable software.

• A reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup.

• Ability to work effectively with remote or international teams.

• Preferred: experience with insurance or accounting software and processes.

• Preferred: familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Preferred: experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, containers, or infrastructure automation.

• Preferred: knowledge of React, Angular, or Vue.js.

• Preferred: experience with .NET, Spring, Django, Node.js, or similar backend technologies.

• Preferred: familiarity with message queues, event-driven architecture, ETL, or enterprise integration patterns.

• Preferred: experience in automated testing, performance testing, and application monitoring.

• Preferred: experience in regulated environments, audits, security, privacy, and compliance.

• Preferred: experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
