Software Engineer – AI Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Create and develop AI-driven product experiences tailored for finance and expenditure management.

• Develop chat interfaces, copilots, autonomous workflows, and internal AI tools to address customer and operational challenges.

• Utilize LLMs, structured financial data, APIs, and business logic to construct production-level AI systems.

• Implement retrieval systems such as vector search, hybrid retrieval, and text-to-SQL, along with OCR and document comprehension.

• Design AI solutions that incorporate tool calling, retrieval, agentic workflows, deterministic logic, or a combination of these methods.

• Create observable and explainable systems equipped with guardrails and quality monitoring measures.

• Develop assessment methods to evaluate improvements in AI systems.

• Experiment with novel models and techniques, transforming viable options into production features.

• Optimize for accuracy, latency, cost, reliability, and user confidence.

• Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers.

• Contribute to elevating the AI engineering standards across Pliant.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in deploying AI-driven products or features into a production environment.

• Strong software engineering capabilities in Java (Spring Boot) and/or within the Python ecosystem.

• Familiarity with distributed architecture patterns and common pitfalls.

• Comprehension of contemporary LLM-based applications that go beyond basic prompting.

• Practical experience with tool calling, memory management, structured outputs, RAG, embeddings, agentic loops, and evaluation methodologies.

• Capacity to design systems where AI integrates into a broader architecture.

• Product-oriented mindset emphasizing utility and effectiveness.

• Ability to transition seamlessly between experimentation and production-level engineering.

• Excellent communication skills and comfort in collaborating within a cross-functional team.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, Terraform, and scalable backend systems is advantageous.

• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or LangGraph is considered beneficial.

• Background in fintech, accounting, spend management, payments, or banking is a plus.
