📋 Description

• Develop Alpaca's proprietary services aimed at users' advisory needs, encompassing block trading, portfolio management, and IRA services.

• Conceptualize and design the platform within a small, dynamic team at an early stage.

• Produce significant production code.

• Make essential decisions to ensure the delivery of high-quality, high-performance customer experiences.

• Collaborate across frontend, backend, databases, distributed systems, CPU-level hardware, concurrency design, high-availability architecture, and object-oriented data modeling.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems, including OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, and quant trading.

• Proficiency in system design with a focus on object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.

• Strong background in software engineering; senior-level experience is preferred.

• Programming expertise in both low- and high-level languages such as C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.

• Experience in optimizing for low latency and high throughput.

• Familiarity with messaging queues and message brokers.

• An analytical, data-driven mindset and skillset.

• Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low-latency systems, and concurrency control.

• Background in developing and implementing Order Management Systems (OMS) and/or high-load financial transactional systems.

• Understanding of the FIX protocol is a plus.

• Experience with observability, tracing, continuous profiling, and benchmarking is a valuable addition.
