Software Development Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software development team within the Financial Services sector.

• Inspire, motivate, and enhance the skills of software developers tackling complex challenges in Financial Services.

• Manage a team both directly and indirectly by collaborating with and mentoring a Technical Lead Staff Engineer.

• Collaborate with architects, product teams, engineering leadership, and stakeholders to synchronize team priorities and roadmaps.

• Identify, communicate, and eliminate delivery obstacles and risks within the team and across Financial Services.

• Plan and facilitate individual professional development through one-on-ones, performance evaluations, feedback, goal-setting, and promotions.

• Report on team progress and status to engineering leadership and stakeholders.

• Source and recruit top talent for the team and the wider organization.

• Provide technical and process guidance throughout the delivery process.

• Foster an inclusive and motivating work culture.

• Support the delivery of mission-critical Financial Services products and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in Canada.

• Ability to work within EST/EDT time zones.

• Proven experience leading a team of developers to successfully deliver software products.

• Experience in delivering microservice-driven, scalable, cloud-based applications.

• Strong working knowledge of Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Python.

• Professional experience in agile development and best practices for continuous delivery.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to personally coach, mentor, and motivate individuals and entire teams.

• Strong enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement.

• Quality-driven mindset with an emphasis on software scalability and resilience.

• Experience in the Payments domain is a plus.

• Experience in building scalable SaaS solutions is advantageous.

• Familiarity with full-stack web application development is a bonus.

• Solid understanding of cloud services, particularly AWS and GCP, is a plus.

• Experience in project management or as a Scrum Master, or formal training, is beneficial.

• Experience in test automation and/or DevOps engineering is an advantage.
