Software Development Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software development team within the Financial Services sector.

• Inspire and support software developers in tackling complex challenges in Financial Services.

• Manage a team both directly and indirectly through collaboration and mentorship of a Technical Lead Staff Engineer.

• Work together with architects, Product teams, engineering leaders, and stakeholders to establish team priorities and roadmaps.

• Identify, communicate, and eliminate obstacles and delivery risks both within the team and across Financial Services.

• Plan and facilitate individual professional growth through one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, feedback, goal-setting, and promotions.

• Report on team progress and status to engineering leadership and stakeholders.

• Recruit top talent for the team and the broader organization.

• Offer technical and process guidance during the delivery phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong, demonstrable technical background.

• Proven experience in supporting, mentoring, leading, and developing a software development team.

• Background in guiding a team of developers to successfully deliver software products.

• Experience in delivering microservice-based, scalable, cloud applications.

• Proficient knowledge of Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Python.

• Professional experience with agile development and best practices in continuous delivery.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate individuals and teams effectively.

• Strong enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement.

• Quality-focused mindset with an emphasis on software scalability and resilience.

• Residing in Canada.

• Available to work within EST/EDT hours.
