Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain high-quality, secure software for production use.

• Create and support backend services in Java/Spring, APIs, business logic, database integrations, and user interfaces based on React or Angular.

• Evaluate existing code and system functionalities to identify application, integration, data, and performance challenges.

• Provide support for legacy production applications while actively contributing to gradual modernization and improvements in maintainability.

• Write and optimize SQL queries, database objects, and data-access components using PostgreSQL.

• Engage in code reviews, automated testing, defect resolution, release preparation, deployment validation, and production support.

• Operate within AWS-hosted environments and utilize continuous integration and continuous delivery processes through Jenkins and GitHub.

• Assist in the ongoing operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the CMS Health Insurance Oversight System (HIOS).

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Minimum of four years of relevant experience in software development.

• Proven experience in maintaining and enhancing legacy production systems within a federal program.

• Familiarity with formal security, release, change-control, and operational-support processes.

• Proficient in Java and Spring frameworks.

• Strong skills in React and Angular.

• Experience in developing data-driven applications using PostgreSQL.

• Excellent communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and collaboration abilities.

• Must possess Public Trust clearance level.

• Authorized to work in the US without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
