Software Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Thoroughly read and comprehend the current codebase, specifications, READMEs, and migration history prior to implementing any modifications.

• Identify and resolve production issues, particularly API synchronization problems caused by changes in vendor APIs.

• Examine AI-generated pull requests meticulously; test, critique, and amend them as necessary.

• Develop CI/CD processes, automated testing, and monitoring systems to ensure that failures are detected early and do not go unnoticed.

• Strengthen database security, access management, and secrets handling.

• Create new features, integrations, data pipelines, and reporting tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with recent hands-on work in TypeScript.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL: including schema design, migrations, views, SQL and PL/pgSQL functions, row-level security, indexing, and analyzing query plans.

• Expertise in full-stack TypeScript: Node.js, React, and Next.js (preferably with App Router), emphasizing strict typing.

• Experience with API integrations: REST and JSON APIs, including authentication, pagination, rate limits, retries, idempotent synchronization, and managing schema changes.

• Familiarity with Git and GitHub: including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and GitHub Actions.

• Knowledge in testing and reliability: encompassing unit, integration, and database tests; logging, monitoring, and root-cause analysis of incidents.

• Daily utilization of coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar AI tools on live codebases, coupled with a disciplined review of their outputs.

• Comfort with financial data management, including decimal and cents calculations, reconciliation, and maintaining audit trails.

• Understanding of security fundamentals: least-privilege access, secrets management, authentication, and safeguarding personal information.

• Experience with technologies such as Supabase, Vercel, AWS (including Lambda, S3, SQS, SFTP, Secrets Manager), Terraform, ELT pipelines, data modeling, data quality assurance, dashboards, LLM agents with tool utilization, MCP servers, or the Anthropic API.

• Acquaintance with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Graph, or job frameworks like Inngest.
