Software Architect – Enterprise AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Define and spearhead the vision and software architecture for internal AI/ML platforms throughout Twilio’s business operations.

• Establish and communicate a long-term architectural vision, ensuring alignment among teams and leadership.

• Conduct cross-product architecture reviews, standardize engineering practices, and drive essential technical investments.

• Tackle complex and ambiguous technical challenges at both platform and company-wide scales.

• Mentor and provide guidance to principal and staff engineers.

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and executive leaders on strategic direction and technical investments.

• Foster and exemplify a high-performance software engineering culture.

• Work globally with business teams and GTM leadership.

• Present AI Engineering strategies and deliverables to executive leadership.

• Oversee the creation and deployment of AI-driven solutions utilizing GenAI.

• Develop custom AI applications, including RAG-based chatbots, agentic workflows, and AI-driven automations.

• Lead collaborative efforts across teams to troubleshoot and resolve intricate AI/ML application challenges.

• Engage with Support, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to implement AI/ML solutions.

• Cultivate a team of innovators and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in designing and scaling distributed systems and platforms.

• Proven ability to establish technical vision and strategy at an enterprise or company-wide scale.

• Expertise in system design, reliability, scalability, security, and cost optimization for large-scale architectures.

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and solving highly complex, ambiguous technical challenges.

• Successful track record of mentoring senior engineering talent and raising organizational standards.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong influence and leadership capabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Position is remote and based in Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta, Canada.

• Occasional travel may be required for project or team in-person meetings.
