Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Design and assess highly available and resilient architectures across Holafly's distributed systems.

• Take the lead in architectural decisions for environments with high traffic and demand, accommodating millions of concurrent users.

• Define and advance patterns for event-driven architectures utilizing asynchronous messaging, queues, and streaming.

• Establish and uphold REST API design standards, which include versioning, contracts, and documentation strategies.

• Implement Domain-Driven Design principles to assist teams in defining bounded contexts, aggregates, and domain events.

• Collaborate with engineering teams on technical design, conduct code reviews, and apply architectural fitness functions.

• Direct the evolution of the platform encompassing React SPAs, Node.js BFFs, Python/Django/Celery microservices, and Flutter mobile applications.

• Ensure adherence to infrastructure best practices across GCP by utilizing Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD.

• Advocate for digital and web security practices, including secure-by-design, threat modeling, and compliance.

• Serve as a trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for squads encountering complex technical challenges.

• Prepare architecture documentation, Requests for Comments (RFCs), and Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Software Architect or Principal/Staff Engineer in high-scale production settings.

• Profound understanding of high availability and resilience patterns, such as circuit breakers, bulkheads, graceful degradation, and multi-region strategies.

• Experience in designing systems for high-demand, high-concurrency scenarios at scale.

• Robust hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, including message brokers, event sourcing, CQRS, and asynchronous workflows.

• Strong expertise in REST API design, focusing on contract-first approaches, versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger, and backward compatibility.

• Practical knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, including bounded contexts, ubiquitous language, aggregates, and domain events.

• Familiarity with the Holafly technology stack or the capability to quickly adapt to it.

• Strong background in digital/web security, covering OWASP guidelines, zero-trust models, authentication patterns (OAuth2, JWT), API security, and data protection.

• Proficiency in English is required.

• Spanish language skills are an advantage.

• Experience with Spec-Driven Development, including OpenAPI-first and AsyncAPI, is a plus.
