This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Monitor Slack and news outlets during designated shifts for updates on litigation, significant voting and election news, legislation, and other noteworthy events.
• Implement Democracy Docket’s social media strategy for rapid responses and breaking news content across the assigned platforms.
• Craft clear and precise social media copy that translates legal and court updates into accessible language.
• Identify uncertainties and communicate them effectively to the next shift or core team.
• Assist with basic community management by overseeing replies and comments.
• Adhere to brand and editorial guidelines.
• Report to the Social Content & Strategy Manager while collaborating closely with news editors during your shift.
• 3–4 years of professional experience in creating social media content for professional channels.
• Political fluency based on a strong grasp of voting rights, elections, and democratic institutions.
• Exceptional writing skills with a portfolio showcasing clear, concise, and engaging social media copy under tight deadlines.
• In-depth familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, and Bluesky.
• Ability to work independently during evenings and weekends with minimal supervision.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly shift focus in response to breaking news or emerging issues.
• Experience with social media scheduling tools, Canva, and Reddit is a bonus.
• Fully remote work.
