Sleep Medicine Physician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee a wide range of sleep disorders and associated medical issues that may lead to or exacerbate sleep disorders.

• Provide direct patient care, which includes both synchronous clinics and asynchronous interpretation of sleep studies, electronic consultations, and remote therapeutic monitoring.

• Conduct initial patient appointments within 60 minutes and follow-up consultations within 30 minutes.

• Carry out the necessary mandatory suicide screenings specific to the setting for new patients.

• Administer sleepiness and insomnia questionnaires when applicable.

• Assess patients, conduct physical exams as needed, order relevant tests, and ensure the completion of these orders.

• Monitor the status of tests and their completion, review findings, and discuss management strategies with patients.

• Record all patient interactions in the electronic health record and enter notes within the required timeframe, typically 24 hours.

• Communicate with providers for Veterans regarding sleep testing, follow-up, and management protocols.

• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary and interprofessional sleep team.

• Document and relay ordered test results within 14 days of their availability, or sooner if clinically necessary.

• Track the completion of ordered tests and address inquiries from schedulers and requests for modifications to orders.

• Maintain board certification, fulfill CME requirements, and practice within the scope of granted privileges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Eligibility to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.

• Graduate from an accredited medical school with either an MD or DO degree.

• Possession of a current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

• Preferred state licenses include Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and California.

• Prior experience with the VA is an advantage.

• Completion of credentialing and onboarding processes as per VA medical staff protocols.
