Sleep Medicine Physician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive management of sleep disorders and associated medical conditions that may cause or exacerbate sleep issues.

• Provide direct patient care as required by the VHA, which includes synchronous clinics, asynchronous sleep study evaluations, electronic consultations, and remote therapeutic monitoring.

• Conduct initial patient appointments within 60 minutes and follow-up appointments within 30 minutes.

• Carry out mandatory, setting-specific suicide screenings for new patients.

• Administer sleepiness and insomnia questionnaires as applicable.

• Assess patients, conduct physical examinations as needed, order relevant tests, and ensure the completion of these orders.

• Monitor the status and completion of tests, review results, and discuss management strategies with patients.

• Document all patient encounters in the electronic health record and personally type notes.

• Complete EHR documentation within the VA facility-required timeframe, generally within 24 hours.

• Coordinate with Veterans’ providers concerning sleep testing, follow-up care, and management plans.

• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary and interprofessional sleep team.

• Document and communicate the results of ordered tests to patients and providers within 14 days of availability, or sooner if clinically necessary.

• Track the completion of ordered tests and respond to inquiries from schedulers, as well as order modification requests.

• Maintain board certification, fulfill CME obligations, and practice within the limits of assigned privileges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Authorization for permanent employment in the U.S. without sponsorship.

• Graduate of an accredited medical institution holding an MD or DO degree.

• Possession of a current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

• Preference for state licenses in Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and California.

• Previous experience with the VA is advantageous.

• Completion of credentialing and onboarding processes in line with VA medical staff regulations.
