This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +10 more states.
β’ Oversee a wide range of sleep disorders and associated medical conditions that cause or contribute to sleep issues.
β’ Provide direct patient care as required by the VHA.
β’ Deliver synchronous care in clinics and asynchronous care via sleep study evaluations, electronic consultations, and remote therapeutic monitoring, depending on whether employed full-time or part-time.
β’ Conduct new patient appointments within 60 minutes and follow-up appointments within 30 minutes.
β’ Carry out mandatory, setting-specific suicide screenings for new patients.
β’ Administer sleepiness and insomnia questionnaires when applicable.
β’ Assess patients, including conducting physical exams as necessary.
β’ Request appropriate testing and ensure the completion of orders.
β’ Monitor the status of tests, review results, and discuss management strategies with patients.
β’ Record all patient interactions in the electronic health record and compose own notes.
β’ Complete EHR documentation within the VA facility-mandated timeframe, generally within 24 hours.
β’ Communicate with Veteran providers regarding sleep testing, follow-ups, and management plans.
β’ Operate within a multidisciplinary and interprofessional sleep team.
β’ Document and relay ordered test results to patients and providers within 14 days of their availability or sooner if clinically necessary.
β’ Monitor the completion of ordered tests and address scheduler inquiries and requests for order modifications.
β’ Maintain board certification, fulfill CME requirements, and practice within the scope of privileges.
β’ Work Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, with occasional weekends; appointment times may vary based on the needs of the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System.
β’ Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely, without sponsorship.
β’ Graduate of an accredited medical school with either an MD or DO degree.
β’ Current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical practice license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
β’ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
β’ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
β’ Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
β’ Preferred state licenses from Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and California.
β’ Prior experience with the VA is advantageous.
β’ Completion of credentialing and onboarding requirements in accordance with VA medical staff procedures.
