Sleep Medicine Physician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of a wide range of sleep disorders and associated medical conditions that may lead to or exacerbate sleep issues.

• Provide direct patient care as required by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

• Deliver both synchronous care in clinical settings and asynchronous services, which include interpreting sleep studies, conducting electronic consultations, and engaging in remote therapeutic monitoring, based on whether you are in a full-time or part-time position.

• Conduct initial patient appointments within 60 minutes and follow-up consultations within 30 minutes.

• Perform mandatory suicide screenings specific to the setting for all new patients.

• Administer questionnaires related to sleepiness and insomnia when applicable.

• Assess patients, including performing physical examinations as necessary.

• Order necessary tests and ensure their completion.

• Monitor the status of tests, review results, and communicate management strategies to patients.

• Record patient interactions in the electronic health record and compose your own notes.

• Complete entries in the electronic health record within the timeframe mandated by the VA facility, typically within 24 hours.

• Liaise with Veterans' healthcare providers regarding sleep testing, follow-ups, and treatment management.

• Function collaboratively within a multidisciplinary interprofessional sleep team.

• Document and relay results of ordered tests to both patients and providers within 14 days of availability, or sooner if clinically warranted.

• Monitor the completion of ordered tests and respond to inquiries from schedulers and requests for order modifications.

• Maintain board certification, fulfill continuing medical education (CME) requirements, and practice within the designated scope of privileges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.

• Graduated from an accredited medical school with either an MD or DO degree.

• Possess a current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical practice license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine as recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

• Preference for state licenses in Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and California.

• Previous experience with the VA is advantageous.

• Candidates must complete credentialing and onboarding processes in accordance with VA medical staff requirements.
