Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design and operation of Ocient's hosted database along with associated services, including message queues and storage systems, to ensure optimal availability, performance, and efficiency.

• Create and sustain monitoring, log centralization, and alerting systems for all services to enhance observability and facilitate incident management.

• Automate the deployment and configuration of Linux-based servers, encompassing both the operating system and applications that form the hosted offerings.

• Develop and uphold stringent security protocols to safeguard applications and customer data.

• Support the automation of testing pipelines for the Ocient DB and oversee the monitoring of testing infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in system administration within production environments.

• Proficient in scripting with Bash, Python, or other programming languages.

• Skilled in using system and software monitoring and alerting tools, such as the ELK stack, Graylog, InfluxDB, Prometheus, Zabbix, Grafana, Dynatrace, or similar tools.

• Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

• Experienced in data archiving, backup, and disaster recovery processes.

• Knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practices using Jenkins, Gitlab CI, or similar platforms.

• Proficient in source control tools such as Git.

• Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotations.

• Understanding of OWASP principles related to application security.

• Experience with server/system virtualization and containerization technologies, e.g., ProxMox, KVM, VMware.

• Competent in SQL and Database Administration.

• Proven experience in managing and operating cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Familiarity with SSAE18 SOC2 Compliance.

• Background in networking administration, including VPN, proxy, DNS, and firewall configuration.
