Senior Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute robust, scalable solutions for intricate PeopleSoft infrastructure.

• Assess integration designs utilizing reliability engineering principles.

• Conduct backend administration for PeopleSoft, encompassing application and web server management, patching, tools upgrades, and environment refreshes.

• Direct incident response through root cause analysis and long-term solutions.

• Engage in an on-call rotation primarily covering the Americas region.

• Organize and assist with weekend administrative tasks and maintenance periods.

• Establish reliability, performance, and recovery protocols for financial close and month-end PeopleSoft operations.

• Create server-level scripts and automate tasks using Python.

• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and overall observability.

• Contribute to the architecture and optimization of PeopleSoft workloads on OCI, Oracle Database, and Oracle GoldenGate.

• Utilize Oracle-native GenAI services for monitoring, automation, and operational insights.

• Lead medium-scale reliability initiatives, defining and tracking service level objectives.

• Suggest operational best practices.

• Mentor less experienced team members through troubleshooting and knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Collaborate with Product, Production Support, application, security, and infrastructure teams.

• Maintain change management, audit, SOX compliance, and disaster recovery standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in PeopleSoft development, functionality, and backend administration, preferably with PeopleSoft FSCM 9.2.

• Proficient in PeopleTools three-tier architecture, application server and web server configuration (WebLogic or Oracle HTTP Server/Tuxedo), Process Scheduler administration, and Integration Broker troubleshooting.

• Demonstrated experience executing PeopleTools installations, upgrades, patching, PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) image application, PeopleTools security administration, environment refresh, cloning, and data masking independently.

• Capability to tune application server domains, JVM and web server parameters, and cache settings.

• Experience in diagnosing performance issues using SQL, AppServer, PeopleCode traces, and PeopleSoft-specific or third-party monitoring solutions.

• Strong scripting abilities at the server level (Unix/Linux shell or PowerShell) and proficiency in Python.

• Familiarity with applying Oracle-native GenAI services to operational solutions.

• Working knowledge of Oracle Database structures, including table and index design, tablespace management, and Application Designer.

• Exposure to Oracle GoldenGate for data replication.

• At least 3 years of experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

• Understanding of OCI compute shapes, networking fundamentals (VCN, subnets, NSGs, load balancers), and OCI Monitoring and Logging.

• Ability to conduct root cause analysis across database, application server, and network tiers.

• Willingness to be on-call, primarily covering Americas hours, and support weekend administrative tasks as required.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with distributed teams.

• Preferred qualifications include exposure to Oracle Autonomous Database, Oracle AI Data Platform, disaster recovery on OCI, load balancing and failover, OCI IAM, capacity planning, Terraform, Ansible, observability platforms, DevSecOps, CI/CD, global ERP support, SOX controls, SRE practices, SLOs, error budgets, blameless postmortems, PeopleSoft or Oracle certifications, and enterprise finance automation or GenAI.
