Sinhala VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Professionally handle calls while adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific terminology relevant to the industry you are interpreting for, particularly in healthcare and medical fields; training will be provided.

• Accurately convey all messages without adding, omitting, or altering any information.

• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the interpretation process.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and comprehensive interpretations.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report regularly to your team leader.

• Follow the dress code required for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Sinhala."

• At least 1 year of telephone interpretation experience at a recognized interpretation company is advantageous but not essential.

• Solid understanding of medical terminology is preferred, although not mandatory.

• Awareness of legal terminology is beneficial.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are an asset (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language is required.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and the ability to appreciate diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills are essential.
