Simulation Analyst – Batteries

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute physics-based and empirical models to replicate the electrical, thermal, and degradation performance of lithium-ion battery systems.

• Conduct one-dimensional simulation studies to assess battery behavior under various electrical, thermal, and environmental conditions, including rapid charging, thermal incidents, and aging.

• Analyze laboratory testing data to derive model parameters, validate simulation outcomes, and enhance model reliability.

• Carry out sensitivity analyses, scenario simulations, and model-driven evaluations to inform design and engineering decisions.

• Collaborate with cell, module, and pack design engineers, testing teams, and controls teams to establish requirements and maximize system performance.

• Create technical documentation, reports, and presentations that summarize modeling methodologies and simulation results.

• Work collaboratively across functions with product teams and communicate progress and insights to stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or Applied Physics from an ABET-accredited institution.

• At least 2 years of experience utilizing simulation tools for engineering applications.

• Practical experience with 0D/1D battery simulation and analysis tools such as GT-SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink, Amesim, or similar.

• Strong grasp of lithium-ion battery fundamentals, including performance characteristics, thermal properties, and aging mechanisms.

• Basic understanding of high-voltage electrical circuits, busbar design, and the functionality of Battery Disconnect Units (BDU) within a battery system.

• Competence in data analysis, result interpretation, and clear communication of findings.

• Experience with optimization techniques, such as Design of Experiments (DOE), parameter estimation, and control optimization.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of effectively presenting technical findings to diverse teams.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively and possess interpersonal skills, with a knack for resolving complex technical issues using analytical and simulation methods.
