Service Technician II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.

📋 Description

• Install mechanical and electrical commercial food equipment and assist with complex installations.

• Maintain, diagnose, and repair basic mechanical commercial food equipment for both contract and time-and-material clients.

• Interpret and adhere to schematic diagrams.

• Demonstrate understanding of equipment operational sequences across various modes.

• Complete and document preventative maintenance on both mechanical and electrical commercial food equipment.

• Implement and uphold Hobart Service safety protocols and programs.

• Contribute to branch and organizational financial goals by providing exceptional customer experiences.

• Stay updated on the organization, industry advancements, and equipment knowledge.

• Manage assigned company assets, including vehicle, tools, and inventory.

• Adhere to safe-driving practices and other relevant company policies.

• Provide on-site assistance to Hobart Service customers.

• Be available for on-call duties, including after-hours, holidays, and weekends as required.

• Gather and summarize data for supervisors or branch managers to support customer-oriented strategies and sales opportunities.

• Conduct vehicle and equipment safety inspections and report any defects.

• Complete necessary safety training.

• Prioritize workloads and multitask on concurrent projects, communicate effectively with internal and external parties, resolve crises and conflicts, and swiftly adjust priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 2–4 years of electrical and mechanical experience, or high school diploma or GED with 0–2 years of HVACR service experience along with an EPA certification, or a vocational certificate in HVACR.

• Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude with troubleshooting capabilities.

• Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial food equipment.

• Competence in interpreting schematic diagrams, mechanical diagrams, and service manuals.

• Knowledge of operational sequences for various modes of operation.

• Proficient in using basic hand tools, gauges, meters, and other relevant equipment.

• Basic math skills, including percentages and unit conversions.

• Basic or functional knowledge of Windows applications and Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

• Capability to read and comprehend business safety guidelines.

• Effective oral communication skills with individuals both within and outside the organization.

• Skills in crisis and conflict resolution.

• Ability to self-motivate and take guidance from senior technicians and management.

• Capacity to multitask and quickly adapt priorities.

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

• Capability to climb up to 10 ft with an A-frame ladder and occasionally access roofs using ladders exceeding 20 ft.

• Ability to walk 3–5 miles daily and drive for 5–6 hours a day.

• Ability to kneel, squat, bend, push/pull, and work in tight or confined spaces.

• Proficiency in operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment, machinery, and power tools.

• Flexibility to work regular, extended, evening, early morning, night, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Industry certification is highly desirable.

• An Associate’s degree or vocational certificate is preferred.

• Experience with commercial cooking and/or refrigeration equipment is preferred.
